Mystic is associated with the New Testament word, mysterion – secret or being outside the range of unassisted natural apprehension, can be made known only by Divine revelation, and is made known in a manner and at a time appointed by God, and to those only who illumined by His Spirit. Truth revealed.

Qualities of a Christian Mystic

Christian mystics are able to spontaneously draw from The Lord’s unending reservoir of wisdom. In turn, they communicate that wisdom (good judgment) clearly to others. At the right time, the mystic receives a download from the Holy Spirit and communicates that message to others. This is called “Wisdom Explained.”
As the mystic grows spiritually there is a greater freedom to express God’s wisdom. Also, they have the ability to receive (and perceive) the thoughts of others. Mystics communicate wisdom that is deeply in line with Biblical teaching. Each word emphasizes a transformational encounter with the living God.
But the wisdom from above is first of all pure (undefiled); then it is peace-loving, courteous (considerate, gentle). [It is willing to] yield to reason, full of compassion and good fruits; it is wholehearted and straightforward impartial and unfeigned (free from doubts, wavering, and insincerity) (James 3:17 AMPC).

The Lord plans an encounter. Wisdom flows forth. It is a touch from God. There is a flow of energy from the Christian mystic to the other person. Routinely, no conversation takes place. Yet, the person is blessed by God. Summon the courage and ability to carry out the spiritual instruction received.

If you sense this calling, you must go through a period of preparation to experience a deep connection with Him. It starts when the person meets The Lord in the cave of darkness - an emplacement of despair, enlightenment, and a shift of consciousness. Where hearing from God is more important than speaking to Him. Prayer patterns shift. While in the cave alone, understanding becomes second-nature and Godly wisdom naturally flows.

Some view the form and function of the church as inconsistent and incomplete. They feel something new and complementary needs to be introduced to the Christian community. Christian mystics are part of that discussion. The contemporary spiritual culture welcomes their zealous, fresh, and insightful approach.

God is not brought around in building personal reputations, but in molding Christian mystics into supernatural ambassadors.

Resist the strong urge to conclude God has unforgotten you. The greatest of human tragedies is for Christian mystics to be distracted from their destiny.

TRUST – The Lord who never forgets you.…I, the Lord, made you, and I will not forget you (Isaiah 44:21b NLT).

Embrace God's path despite the challenges. Christian mystics embody God's love and strength wherever they go. Trust that God has a unique plan for you. He will provide everything needed to fulfill your purpose. Keep moving forward and release the past.
TRUST – Obey The Lord then wait patiently. Yet those who wait for the Lord Will gain new strength… (Isaiah 40:31a NASB).
The Christian mystic waits. Nothing seems to be happening. Unseen forces are at work. The journey to spiritual awareness doesn’t make sense. It is the opposite of what is seen, known, and understood. Waiting leads to new power and ability. Have patience and courage to wait for God to act.
Christian mystics courageously dedicate their lives to God, trusting that He will assist them in overcoming obstacles to reach their destiny.
He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less (John 3:30 NLT).

When Barnabas was mentioned in Scripture (Acts 4:36) he was nicknamed Son of Encouragement. This is the core of the mystic calling – encouragement. Barnabas’ spiritual heritage is of the Tribe of Levi. The Levites devoted themselves to spiritual pursuits focused around encouragement. They ministered The Lord’s instruction requiring them to live and travel throughout all the land. The same applies to the modern day Christian mystic. Their role is to subtly expand a person's view of God.

As each of you has received a gift (a particular spiritual talent, a gracious divine endowment), employ it for one another as [befits] good trustees of God’s many-sided grace [faithful stewards of the extremely diverse powers and gifts granted to Christians  by  unmerited  favor]  (I Peter 4:10 AMPC).
Christian mystics are surprisingly relevant to modern life. Their message is practical and healing. They sense there is more to life than making a living. Their focus is on being of service in the world. They don't draw attention to themselves. Mystics are first sent on a dark and unfamiliar path. The Lord wants to send a message that He did not create them to be self-sufficient. As the Christian mystic walks the new path, God reveals details to his/her destiny.

Christian mystics need to wait patiently for the path towards spiritual liberation to reveal itself before they can engage in acts of service to humanity. They acquire the ability to perceive and interpret situations.

The sole priority for Christian mystics is serving the Kingdom of God. They develop absolute trust in a Divine Plan.

Sharing pieces of Godly wisdom is the cornerstone of the Christian mystic’s heart. Wisdom is the ability to see life from God’s viewpoint. The Lord responds to an open vessel to dispense His wisdom to bless those in need. Wisdom comes in different forms and functions. It is brought forth just at the right moment.

It’s time for the church to alter its course. Millions of people are being pushed aside because the local church doesn’t know how to address their needs and longings. Christian mystics will create new models of ministry and outreach that are palatable in today’s world. They share God’s love to reinvigorate those that have fallen off the path.

Christian mysticism has been acknowledged for many generations. In today’s world, there is a growing acceptance of mystic thought. They are leaders, teachers and spiritual directors who propose new ideas and models for the Christian community. They function as change agents.

God Builds a Bridge to the Unknown

Christian-mystic Bridge Home Page.jpg

Christian mystics thoughtfully travel with God. They go forward in joy and in confidence. On the pathway, they receive special wisdom, understanding and insight. These attributes come to the Christian mystic’s heart at just the right time. They are for people not yet found.

While on the bridge, God empties Christian mystics and fills them with something better than before. The endless crossing is a symbol of a journey that one can’t deviate from. The unknown is the place of impartation, empowerment, and greater clarity.

The Lord issues specific unique assignments to carry encouragement and healing. There are many people that need a touch and blessing.

Every day, Christian mystics encounter The Lord. On the bridge, God communicates through symbols and signposts that guide them to the unknown. They discover a new world that is vibrantly alive with His presence.

As Christian mystics walk in obedience, more is revealed. They will not find peace by demanding to know what is ahead, rather follow the guidance that has already been given. There is sufficient wisdom for each day, as The Lord lights the path of those who love Him. God becomes the center of their life.
